Yorkshire Day Thursday

Post by Pippedydeadeye »

When did Yorkshire Day become a thing? Anyway, good morning. We’re heading to Lille today. A minor panic this morning booking the return train but I think we’re ok now!

Have a great day, all!

I have never heard of Yorkshire Day but I'm firmly from t'other side of the Pennines so perhaps I have just blocked it out.
Safe travels, Pip.

I'm struggling to get going this morning despite a decent sleep and a bit of a lie in. I'm already debating if I go to Bootcamp this evening given it will likely be 25C at 6pm, but I'm a bugger for giving myself an excuse not to exercise.

Morning! I have struggled into the office after a sweaty disrupted sleep and instead of the one other person I expected in the small project room I'm in, there are 4. This might be because we have a TV in here which tends to go on when there's something sporting going on, but that might be pure coincidence.

In other news, I am currently being ghosted by a decking guy, a mortgage broker and a windowcleaner, all of whose services I need to engage, which is irritating.

Good Morning , what event is on today in Lille, Pip ?

I'm not familiar with Yorkshire day, but can probably stake a claim as some of my ancestors are from there. Using that logic I could stake a claim to days for many counties.

Considering I slept most of the afternoon yesterday, I had a great sleep last night, I guess the sedation lingered in my system.

I should be going to bodypump and for a swim at lunchtime, but instead I have a call regarding a job. It pays about 1/3 the salary of my previous job, but is slightly better than the part time job that I really like the sound of that I'm going to chat to someone else about !

I will spend the evening awaiting news from my sister . Following on from yesterday's post, they do think it's cancer, but she has to go in later today (when a bed is free) and will have surgery to remove it (possibly today, possibly tomorrow). They don't believe it's spread, and she seems to have a positive mindset about it all. I have a bowel cancer test sat on my desk that's been here for about 2 months, and I keep forgetting about, I guess this is a timely reminder!

Happy Yorkshire Day! I've lived in Northern Yorkshire for over 20 years and it's definitely becoming more important.

I breathed a sigh of relief this morning because the new plastering team arrived. Today plans include trying not to regress to being a stroppy teenager, due to the work on the house I have decamped to my parents house for a couple of days.

TracyA , I hope your sister is okay

We’ve ‘celebrated’ Yorkshire day since before Elf was born (I think). I’ll wear my white rose brooch today if I can put my hand on it.

My brother announced he was visiting this weekend (yesterday) despite the fact that most of us already have plans for the weekend so he’ll barely see anyone. Mum always suffers anxiety when he brings his wife so she’s expecting the house to be cleaned within an inch of its like and keeps bursting into tears. So my plan for the day is cleaning inside the kitchen cupboards and hoovering under the carpets.

I’m so sorry to hear about your sister Tracy. Hopefully it’s easily dealt with.

I can remember Yorkshire Day being a thing from at least 1977 when I moved there. Safe travels, Pip!

Good luck to your sister, Tracy.

I hope it goes smoothly for your sister, Trace. Good luck on the job stuff too.

It’s basketball tomorrow in Lille, Canada vs Spain. It’ll be our only men’s event.

Our bags are so heavy. Saturday is going to be spent travelling miles. We couldn’t get a Eurostar direct from Lille so have to go back to Paris to get home.

The insect bite that had blistered has now popped. :( I feel disgusting and totally wrung out by the lack of decent sleep. We didn’t get chance to complain to the hotel so I’m going to do a scathing TripAdvisor review when I have a keyboard to type on.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister, Tracy. It sounds positive that the doctors feel it's contained and can be removed. I hope it's all very uneventful for her.

I'm WFH and mildly glowing. I was so boiling last night, it was unbearable. Both my really good fans are in Bristol (where I am not! )

Morning all.

Tracy hope your sister is operated on quickly and that everything is contained.

Mr G dropped the boy off a golf coaching, so he’s finally away from a screen for a couple of days, and I then followed him to the garage as he was dropping the nice car in for its service and mot. Coffee and then a walk for me, hopefully the rain will stay away.

Safe travels, good working, and good fun to all (delete as appropriate).

Sending best wishes for your sister, Tracy.

We are continuing our summer holidays with another trip away in Norman, we are off to Rhosneigr for a couple of days to stay by the beach then on to Caernarfon. Our best friends and their chaps are joining us later on this afternoon for the first two days so that’ll be nice, fingers crossed the weather stays nice!

Yorkshire Day was never on my radar till about 15 years ago, I reckon. And that's actually living in Yorkshire!

Morning, chaps. Working, watching Olympics etc. T is back from American tomorrow so I have a spring in my step, despite losing a couple of hours of sleep to crippling period pain.

We had lovely rain in the night though so it has cooled down a smidge, phew!

The rain was so loud! I was very thankful I had brought all the sofa cushions inside before bed!

Povvo, I love Rhosneigr and there’s a branch of my favourite shop there. Have fun!

We are on the TGV. God, I want to go home so badly now.

We are staying right by the beach and are hoping to see the RAF planes landing as the chaps will love that! You need to tell me the shop so I can go for a nose :))

When are you home, Pip?

Good luck to your sister, Tracy. My mum starts her chemo for her breast cancer on Tuesday although she had a mastectomy so technically there is no cancer at the moment (hopefully).

Pip, it sounds like a tough last couple of days. I hope it passes quickly! You’ll need another holiday at home to recover.

Yorkshire Day is topical as I was thinking about going there in September.

I'm just heading home from a meeting, sadly I still have to work this afternoon. Then I have spin after work.

Good luck to your sister Tracy, sounds like they're pretty much on it but it's still worrying, especially when you're in another country.
