I saw a Christmas special where they were cooking for people who had helped him during his illness, and I think they've filmed a new series, so yes, it didn't sound like he was on his way out.

I just read Si's announcement and it said that as well as his family, he was with him when he died.

Very sad. We've been watching their latest series and he doesn't / didn't look a well man.

He was so funny on Strictly, he was terrible but he was such a good sport about it, and so was Karen, his dance partner.

Another one who thought he was on the mend. How sad. It’s no age.

That is very sad. I saw a bit of the show he did where he talked about getting his diagnosis and the first round of chemo which sounded absolutely brutal. I had hoped that because he did the show he was on the mend.

That's so sad, I'm sure I had read that he was getting better. I can't imagine how Si must be feeling; they always seemed to be such good mates.

Like all of you this has properly upset me, which is ridiculous as I didn’t “know” him, he just always came across (as does Si) as a genuinely nice bloke and they were such genuine mates.

Very sad.

This is really sad. I’ve seen some of the recent show episodes and he spoke a lot about how much he appreciated being back on his bike and cooking with his mate again, it was quite moving. I also took that to mean he was on the mend. Ultimately a lovely chap.

I’m sad about this too. He seemed to be a really nice person and I liked the friendship between him and Si which felt so genuine.

Si will be devastated. Their last series where he got back on his bike again was so poignant.

Very sad indeed. Dave always came across as a very genuine person and I think Is will find it very hard.
