Re: Active April
I have signed up for a 10km event in July. Just for something to aim for (I have a specific goal in mind).
Cheers Alan. It may sound swift but it’s flat and easy surface unlike yours!

Similar here. I haven’t signed up yet but I’m toying with the Frome 10km in August. It’s also partly just about adding some structure.

I went to a yoga and soundbath workshop tonight. It was very gentle, but nice, and no references to ancestral trauma, or the medicine of the condor.

It really is the structure of the plan that helps keeps accountability right? I do love a medal and free event singlet too!Texaco Shirley wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 8:36 pm Similar here. Re: Active April
I’m slightly put off by the cost of the Frome event which doesn’t even include the T-shirt!

Have a look at Wells, maybe? It is definitely less savage than Frome and was always way cheaper. Although I have a feeling that may also have changed.Texaco Shirley wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 10:59 pm I’m slightly put off by the cost of the Frome event which doesn’t even include the T-shirt!

Re: Active April
TBF the Frome event is now with a new organiser as the previous one went bust so maybe they were undercharging. I’m reasonably keen to do Frome as a friend has already signed up for the half marathon (which is the really savage one )

Ah, yes! It is the half that is the bastard!
I have not attempted it because many tales from many runners in my part of the hood tell me that it is madness to enter.

The event I’ve entered wasn’t cheap either ($70) so I use the word “free” singlet with licence

Re: Active April
I think I have about four running events in the diary this year currently.
Upper body this morning and badminton planned for tonight.

2.5 mile training run. Avoided the rain but the wind! It was gusting strongly enough to bring me near enough to a stop even going downhill.

Re: Active April
This wind can do one as far as I'm concerned.
Everyone's doing so well and any sporting events need to be entered into the appropriate thread to save me continually talking to myself
My week is shaping up to this:
Mon - Bootcamp and 35 min recovery run
Tues - Rest Day
Wed - Bootcamp and 2 sets of 4 x 400m reps starting at 10km pace finishing at 5km pace
Thurs - Easy 30 mins
Friday - Bootcamp
Sat - 5km with a few strides thrown in at the end
Sun - 10 mile race

Kettlebells tonight. It gave the instructor heart palpitations so I felt justified in skipping a few reps. Man, it was tough.

Re: Active April
Did over four miles of trail tonight and it was bloody horrible. It was really, unexpectedly cold, the route was just mud the whole way round any neither my mind or my legs were interested in being there.
Still, it's distance in the bank and I must remind myself that I haven't done much for a while, so this is to be expected. I will rest up now until Thursday.
