We Need To Talk About...

Post by Disco »

...Collagen.

Do we? I feel I need to.

So I've done the most rudimentary research and have ascertained marine, bovine & vegan; some are better for joints; skin; or something else :blah:

Do you take collagen supplements? Powders? Capsules?

Should I just make a bone based stock every week and drink that? Or simply eat jelly cubes? Is this a fad?

Let's chat skin and bones and stuff.

I need something to fill in the lines. I went to the doctor and he said that of all the options, microneedling and what have you, Botox would be best but I'm too scared to get that done. But my forehead and eyes are all lined and I look like I'm a thousand years old. Will collagen fix that?!

Ooo I've been thinking about starting a thread on collagen too! I shall watch with great interest. It sounds like I have done the same level of research.

There's very little evidence it works, I think... I did a lot of reading about it a while back as I used to take it for my nails.

This thread has taken à surprising turn.

I've been taking collagen + hyaluronic acid for a month now. I'm not convinced it does anything. I haven't grown male genitalia yet in any case.

I tried it but saw no difference. Then did some reading to say that ingesting it is worthless.

Botox was a game changer for my skin, Lazz.

Lazz, you make a valid point and I have been considering botox as there is a very good local dentist who does a few of my friends. I'll save my collagen money for that.

Thanks. job done.

Whereas I read the opposite. :)) I take supplements but let's face it, it's all a con and we should just be eating well and drinking lots of water etc etc :blah:

Sure, sure. :))

Happy to help, Dicco. We should do it together. I'm such a scaredy cat, I just imagine it going wrong.

I don't want to do botox so I think I may give the collagen a go anyway.

I think a dentist is ideal for Botox. I go to one and I can still move my eyebrows, I just look more relaxed most of the time.

I do too. I trust a dentist fully with my facial anatomy.

I’ve been getting it for about 7 years regularly now and have never had droopy eye (beyond my one slightly droopier one that is genetic and has always been like that :ella: ) and I always get a dose which means I still have some movement. I had really deep “11s” before I started getting it and they’re non-existent now.

Ooh, it's worked wonderfully on you, Est!

I don't think dentists can do it here in France, I need to do some more research.

Interesting. I would feel better about a medical setting.
