So Lille is unexpectedly beautiful. And absolutely great for shopping. We’ve had a couple of fallings out over food but we’re now sat in a gorgeous cobbled area on a terrace with cold wine and the temperature is way more bearable.

Plus we have two separate rooms and the hotel has very effective air conditioning.

Lille sounds lovely. Today started in the pool and this afternoon N went rollerskating. The thunder seems.ti have missed us and it's been dry this afternoon so we're having a BBQ.

Lille is the perfect bite-sized town! Are you going to have time to get to the gorgeous art deco swimming pool museum? :hbeat:

Art deco swimming pool museum? Niche! It sounds amazing though and I’d love to go.

It was a bit hazy and cooler this morning so we went on a long walk looking at all the amazing houses then spent the afternoon on the beach. We’re cooking dinner now while the kids play uno.

Lille looks lovely, Pip.

It’s got warmer as the day has gone in here, so I put a bottle of pink in the fridge.

Hello people.

Oh no Trace, I hope that your sis is sorted quickly and effectively. x

We are in Looe (well Hannafore actually but its 10 minutes from Looe) and about to go out for dinner. Have had a great day at a Puzzle Park and the Jamaica Inn so far.

Almost weren't here though, I was topping up the oil on the car last night and dropped the oil cap into the bottom of the engine and couldn't get the fucking thing out. Called the RAC at half six last night but they didn't get here until half ten this morning which meant I didn't really sleep very much last night.

Still, Mr RAC had a proper jack on his van which lifted the car up enough so that the cap just slid out on to the floor, which was good. I could tell what he was really thinking though, and I can't blame him. :))

An art deco swimming pool that has been transformed into a museum. I should have phrased that more carefully :))

I’m glad it was easily sorted though.

We’ve said we’d like to go to a museum, and Squeak is an Art Deco/Art Nouveau fan.

Chunk has moaned like an absolute bitch for the past two hours so we’ve had to leave the gorgeous old town part and come back to our hotel bar near the station. It’s fine though really.

Do you mean here: https://www.roubaix-lapiscine.com/en/home/ ? It’s a bit far, we have basketball at 5pm and need to be there well before for the security etc.

Yes, that's the one. If it's too far, the Fine Art museum in the middle of town is very good too (although Chunk will moan, obviously :)) )

I've also got https://thegoodlifefrance.com/villa-cav ... in-france/ on my hit list, but have never quite made it. Squeak needs to come back for an art deco pilgrimage!

Quite right. I've done friends trips and a couples trip to Lille, and the former were indisputably better.

ETA If you're serious about going back, look at going around to The Braderie in September - a huge outdoor flea and antique market that spreads all over town.

I hope everything went well with your sister Tracey.

All the holidays sound wonderful.

I went for a run this morning which resulted in me being a sweaty mess. Got home, showered and logged in before heading out for a team meeting and a late lunch which was lovely.

I've come up to bed as I'm absolutely knackered!

I love a game of Uno
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either, just fuck off and leave me alone.

Thanks for all your good wishes, she was only admitted 30 mins ago, 16:30 her time, so I don't know if they'll do anything tonight. That said, her scan last week was at about 9pm, so they seem to be pretty 24x7.

I want to go to Jamaica Inn, but I want to stay there.
