Crafting Plans and Projects

Incorporating hobbies, computer games, Verm's Interesting Links and anything else you can think of excluding football and other spectator sports because these belong in the Sport section, but allowing sports you play yourself with your own body as that counts as a pastime.

The other one spotted this top in Glastonbury last December and asked for something similar. I found a pattern with some help from a FB group which was a close match, even to the sleeves, but she ultimately decided on plain sleeves.

I totally feel like if Wendy went on the Sewing Bee, they’d say “You have four hours for this challenge” and Wendy would be like “Hold my beer. I only need two.”

Absolutely not. A lot of what I make is quite simple, and you only see the end result, not the mistakes, unpicking and dodgy bits.

I had a very productive weekend, even if not everything turned out well. It cleared a lot of my to-do pile!

repairs and adjustments
Wunderwebed a jacket
Stitched up a small hole in a skirt
Repaired a neckband on a top belonging to Elvis
Black dress - second go of shortening the straps to make it less cleavage revealing. Went too far and whilst it was much better, circulation was reduced in the armpit area.

WIPs
Twisted front dress - finished putting it together but the fabric was too light for the dress. Shame but it worked as a toile and I’ll try again.
Patchwork bag - something Sproglette started months ago and I got fed up of it hanging round and finished it for her!

New projects
Halterneck dress and top in grey leopard print for Sproglette and Elvis respectively
Dolman dress that I cut two fronts for, then attempted to recover it with a strap feature at the back that was working until I fucked up the neckband and gave it up as a bad job. Elvis got a sleeveless top out of what I could salvage!
Playsuit for Elvis made with cute clownfish fabric.
Cotton camisole and shorts set for me (using the leftover fabric from Speoglette’s rainbow leopard print jumpsuit)
Maxi dress for me. I have this fab tropical print but the dress was in 2 bits and it didn’t work. So I’m going to put a plain orange top to the skirt and buy some black fabric to make a skirt to the top piece.

I finished the jumper that my colleague won in a charity auction and am taking it in today. It took a while for her to choose what she wanted for her eldest, so we were aiming for it being ready for the colder weather. She’s going to north wales next week so that’s possibly now.

My mum was bored so took a couple of my stashed projects and returned them in days.

Ooh love those knitted items! Can I ask for patterns for all three? As Wiggle says, skilful and efficient crafting definitely runs in the family!

Lovely, wendy. So looking forward to taking on yarn and knitting/crochet supplies when we finally move into our new shop!

R's littlest grandson is 3 on 4th August, so I've made him some PJs as part of his present. They're for age 4, so they'll be massive - though R says A seems tall for his age. I really like this jersey print, but it isn't a big seller at all. We'll probably end up using most of it ourselves.

I love that fruit garland!

I have almost finished the cardigan I'm knitting, and when that's done I will be giving two at a time sock knitting another go; last time I made a right dog's breakfast of it.

It's late and I can't really share these little chaps with anyone except you. Some of you will have heard me talk about N, who was R's best friend and former colleague. He and his wife, J, have been a huge influence in our lives and we miss him terribly. After I made a couple of bears from mum's clothes, I asked J if there was anything I could do for her. At first, she said "no, the kids disposed of [their dad's] clothing quite soon after his death". But a day or two later, she came back to me and asked if I'd make her a bear from some BBQ aprons and a couple of waistcoats that she still had. And then she asked if I might have enough to make one for their first grandchild. I said that I was fairly sure that there'd be enough fabric if she wanted to give a bear to each of their (now grown-up) kids. I then asked if I should include their adult foster daughter and their son's best friend - who might as well be a foster (they referred to both as their 'adopted' children, despite a lack of official paperwork). :))

So, 8 bears then ... They'll be given as Christmas presents, hence not being able to share elsewhere. The extra nice thing, as far as I'm concerned, is that I was planning to make a little waistcoat for each bear from the last of N's waistcoats but, as I finished off the bears, I decided that a waistcoat would detract from the bears themselves. So,I'll be returning one of the two waistcoats J gave me, untouched.

They are beautiful OTH. It’s very thoughtful of you.

Ages ago we went to paint side/lunch/snack plates for each of us. Cube didn’t want to come but he was sad he didn’t have his own so I went back last week and surprised him with this yesterday. We’ve painted quite a lot of pottery over the years and it’s family tradition to put our age on.

Also, Betty adores Coraline and we were going to the 15th anniversary edition at the weekend so I made her the squid.
