We've been watching that and really enjoying it.

I asked Mr R how exaggerated it was* and he said really not that much. The only two things he thought were slightly OTT/hard to believe were how insecure the lead is and the attitude/career pushiness level of the 3rd AD.

*as in the dynamics on a major studio film set in general - he hasn't done Marvel. :))

This is on Sky here. Marina Hyde was one of the writers on it, she talked about it on the Rest is Entertainment podcast.

It’s on Sky. I’ve watched the first few with Chunk and we need to finish it. Marina Hyde is on the writing team and has talked about it a lot on her podcast with Richard Osman.

This is super interesting insider validation!

I haven’t listened to that podcast, but I will now, thanks Pip and Sal.

It is, although I thought I'd love MH more than I do, I find her a bit too snarky at times.

She's uber posh, isn't she? She's got the kind of voice that's perfect for barking orders at servants

I’m almost done with Black Doves. If you suspend any belief it’s pretty watchable. They obviously threw a lot of money at it.

We're mid-way through Black Doves and it's fun, I'm enjoying it. Complete nonsense but in a good way. It laid its daftness stall out with the very first sequence - all that wandering around a pre-Christmas central London at supposedly about 12.30 am and it's as deserted as it was in 28 Days Later.

Also part way through Day of the Jackal. I'm on the fence about it. I really enjoyed the first few episodes and I love the shout outs to the original but now The Jackal is emoting way too much for a stone cold assassin and Eddie Redmayne does this weird squinty thing when he not-quite-cries. It's on pause while we finish Doves. :))

I enjoyed The Pembrokeshire Murders. I thought it was well done, not flashy, and respectful to the victims. And I love Luke Evans. He is so handsome.

I spoke to Donna Quixote the other day who said that everyone has their own idea of Rupert in their head and nobody on TV could ever come close, hence they made him dark rather than blond. I'm trying to binge it but my accommodation doesn't have Disney. So I can't.

Well I do prefer blondes :flirt: so that might have helped but it was more that his face looked like it had been kicked in :))

I realised I don’t remember reading the book anyway so that might have helped me enjoy the show more. I stuck it out to the end as I don’t like to give up on things and it was ok in places but the pace was really slow. Then I found out that the whole book wasn’t covered so that explained a lot :))
